25 Feb From Dreams to Concrete
For years, the Westview board of directors, the Westview team, and some stalwart friends of the Home have believed that there needed to be a space for young adults from 18 to 24 experiencing challenging circumstances to build an adult life. Those dreams are now becoming concrete.
The last months have been time spent in preparation—finding land, changing zoning, developing plans, moving gas lines—doing all of the things a developer must do to build a new neighborhood. That is, after all, what we are doing. Westview Launch is building a new neighborhood where young men can have a roof, regular meals, resources, and the relationships it takes to build a life as an adult.
After days of rain and freezing weather, the skies finally cleared. Our builder was able to pour the cul-de-sac that will be at the heart of our neighborhood: Brookman Circle. The board has decided to honor long-time Westview board member, Farris Brookman, who lived much of his life in this part of Oklahoma by naming this street for him.
With the road in place, now we’re clear to get permits and start work on the homes we’ll be building. We’ve poured footings and are now doing the pre-plumbing before we pour the slab. Please keep an eye on this site for more developments in the days ahead.
