Making Way for the Future

A letter from Dr. Ron Bruner:

With a heart full of gratitude and reflection, I share the deeply personal news of my retirement as Executive Director of Westview Boys’ Home. After over twenty-five years of service, this decision is both fulfilling and profoundly emotional. This Home, and every young man whose life has been changed on this ranch, have left an indelible mark on my heart and soul.

Over the decades, I have witnessed extraordinary growth and transformation. Our programs have flourished, services have expanded, and our facilities have been revitalized—all to better fulfill our mission. We have found ways to be a hospitable community shaped by the divine practice of hospitality. But the most remarkable changes have been in the lives of the young men entrusted to our care. Their courage, resilience, and growth have been the heartbeat of this ministry. Their stories, their triumphs, make this farewell so bittersweet. Their journeys stand as daily reminders of the transformative power of this work and the profound importance of the mission we share. Simply put, the work we do here is sacred and must continue to thrive.

As I prepare to close this extraordinary chapter of my life, I do so with immense hope for the future of Westview Boys’ Home. I have full confidence in the capable and passionate leadership team already at work alongside the Westview board to carry this mission forward. Their vision, energy, and commitment ensure that Westview’s impact will only deepen and expand in ways we cannot yet imagine.

To ensure a seamless transition, I have gradually stepped back to empower the leadership team to take on my work. As of January 30, 2025, Terry Owens is the new executive director of Westview Boys’ Home. He has worked alongside me for over fifteen years as an intelligent and passionate advocate for young men experiencing challenges. I will serve for a few more months as a consultant, with my formal retirement on April 25, 2025. This deliberate and thoughtful process has allowed new leadership to take the reins fully, guiding the Home into a future filled with promise.

This moment of transition serves as a powerful reminder of a truth I hold dearly: the work of caring for others has never been about one individual. It is the collective effort of a compassionate, hopeful, and hospitable community. Westview Boys’ Home will continue to thrive because of all of you—our steadfast supporters who have built and sustained this ministry from its inception.

Thank you for the incredible privilege of serving alongside you. As I turn the page on this chapter, I do so with a full heart and great hope for all that lies ahead. May we continue this vital mission together, ensuring brighter futures for generations to come.

With deepest gratitude and faith,

Ron
