27 Aug Forging Stronger Communities, One Connection at a Time
At Westview Family Services, we believe in the power of partnership. As the proverb says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” We know that it takes a village to raise children, and our mission is to equip that village with the knowledge and wisdom gained from years of working with kids from hard places—trauma, abuse, and neglect.
That’s why we were so excited to bring our training to Quanah Independent School District on August 6, 2025. Our Director of Social Services, Joshua Birney, spent the day with 35 teachers and two administrators, from elementary to high school, focusing on a single, vital topic: building relationships with students. The training was an interactive and challenging journey that explored trauma and risk factors, brain development, connection principles, and how to build a truly safe classroom environment.
The energy in the room was electric. Not only did we share valuable insights, but we also gained them. The “students” in the room—the dedicated educators of Quanah ISD—shared their own wisdom, providing us with new perspectives we’ll incorporate into our future caregiver trainings.
This day marked the beginning of a powerful partnership. Westview is committed to returning to Quannah throughout the 2025-26 school year to continue these essential conversations. By working together, both Quanah ISD and Westview Family Services will be better equipped to give every young person the opportunities they need for a bright future.
