Overstreet kayaking

A summer vacation

This summer, the Bonner Springs Church of Christ (from Bonner Springs, Kansas) sponsored a summer vacation for Overstreet House.

Steve and Tammy Young, with six of their young men (Noah, Elijah, Derek, Christian, Antony, and Jesse) embarked on a six-day trip to Missouri and Kansas.

On day one they traveled from Hollis and spent the night in Springfield Missouri, where they visited the largest Bass Pro Shop in the world. Several of the boys really enjoyed themselves there because of their love for the outdoors.

Day two brought a visit to the Dame’s cabin on Lake of the Ozarks in Stover, Missouri. The crew enjoyed several water activities, including swimming, fishing, kayaking, and boating. On that day, Christian was the champion fisherman because he caught a rather large catfish. The crew didn’t stop to weigh it and now the story about it seems to be getting bigger and bigger. At first, the fish was said to weigh around six pounds but now the story has it to be a twelve-pound whopper.

Day three started with another morning at the lake enjoying more water sports. After a great lunch, they headed for Bonner Springs, where they enjoyed supper at the Golden Corral. All the boys enjoyed their favorite foods.

Day four was filled with worship and praise to God. Overstreet attended services at the Bonner Springs Church of Christ. Several of our young men helped serve: Elijah led a prayer, and Christian and Noah helped serve on the table. They spent the afternoon at the Chowning’s home, playing games and having fun. In the evening they attended worship service and afterward, helped pass out books and invitations,

Day five was spent at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City. All the young men enjoyed spending the day riding rides and watching shows. It was an amazing time. The guys enjoyed having wrist bands that allowed them to eat every 90 minutes. By the time they got back to the hotel, all the boys were ready to settle down.

Day six was spent traveling back to Hollis and talking about all the fun that they had.

The crew at Overstreet send a special thanks to Jordan Edwards for putting this trip together.
