Fresh Starts: How Westview Boys’ Home Helps Young Men Rewrite Their Stories

The start of a new year is a time for fresh beginnings—and for one young man at Westview Boys’ Home, it marked the start of a completely new direction in life.

Haunted by poor grades, disruptive behavior, and a reputation for causing trouble, his future seemed uncertain. He believed others expected him to fail, so he lived up to those low expectations. But when he arrived at Westview Boys’ Home, everything began to change.

He was given an opportunity to raise a show pig—a task that symbolized trust and responsibility. As he cared for the animal and watched it thrive, his own life began to transform. His grades improved, he earned a spot on the honor roll, and he left his troublemaking days behind.

After graduating high school, he went on to achieve both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees—a feat that once seemed impossible. Reflecting on his time at Westview, he said, “When I was allowed to raise a show pig, I saw others putting their trust in me for the first time. I wasn’t going to let them down.”

This year, you can help give young men a fresh start and a second chance. Join our mission at Westview Boys’ Home and make a difference.
